The Christian Church has had a history of separating into different denominations or sects since it's inception 2,000 years ago. Jesus's prayer in the Garden of Gethsemanee didn't work. He prayed that his followers be one as he and the father were one. Unfortunately that's not the way our Universe works. It seems duality and separation are inherent and inescapable properties of this life.

What happened within the Mormon church is no different than what happened to the Early Church. It split. Just like an Amoeba or bacteria splits in two.
