"What I have published is highly concentrated on hypersensitivity, Ratajczak told us in an interview, "the body's immune system being thrown out of balance."

I don't have enough information to form an opinion about that (autism). However, I am old enough to remember people with polio. From what my mom tells me it was worse when she was a girl (no vaccine).

It's not wrong to worry about side-effects, and study links to vaccines. I'm not saying it is. But I do think that a bit of perspective is needed. Vaccines aren't like Snickers bars. They have a purpose, and that purpose is often (won't say always) much greater than the side effects. Growing up with a full spectrum of vaccines (which most of us did) it is easy to forget the absolute horrors that those diseases were, and the almost-routine nature of knowing someone who had died of one of them.

Heck, smallpox all-but-annihilated several native American tribes just a few hundred years ago (making subsequent conquest by us white folks much easier, as it happens). It was a scourge right up until the vaccine became widely available.
