"When liberals were promoting the Alternative Minimum Tax, they piously said that "everyone should pay at least some Federal Income tax." I agree with that and I think we should re enact a poll tax that everyone would pay, and cut down on all the exemptions and credit that eliminate taxes for a lot of people like myself."I'm all for that.No more exemptions from income taxes for 'dependents'. Let everyone pay their 'fair share'. HEck, not only do they want to pay less taxes to support the schools, school programs, teachers salaries, they want to feed at the trough and use them up in proportion to how many exemptions they claim, reducing their taxes as much as possible. Then, no more mortgage interest deductions. Why should renters have to subsidize home buyers? Why should you pay less tax because you borrowed a bazillion bucks? Why should someone who has paid off their house have to pay more to subsidize those who keep borrowing out their equity, getting ever bigger loans, they deducting the interest from taxes owed? That's a 'capitalist' idea, not a lib idea. Charitable deductions? Why? You need to pay your fair share. I don't care if you want to give money to your 'church business' or some other organization. Why should I have to subsidize it? The less tax you pay, the more others have to pay. Real estate taxes? Same thing. No deductions. YOu want to live in a McMansion? Then pay the taxes on it and don't expect me to subsidize it. Maybe we really need a fair tax. Everyone pays XX% on income. Period. No deductions. Those vaunted 'police and fire' arguments sure apply. A family of 10 likely will use 10 times the amount of police and fire needs as a household of one. Why should they get 'exemptions'? Let them pay their fair share!......Now wait for the libs to scream!t.
