"You can get 50-60 grams of fiber a day not eating vegan. You can't eat a lot of meat and dairy, but it could be done. The major mistake Americans make is the thinking they have to have a meat and/or dairy product at every meal or you won't get enough protein. Could not be more wrong."

Okay I was kidding about the vegan statement, okay. But I do find this statement as pure supposition on your part. This is not the reason most Americans do this, it's because they happen to like what they eat. I don't happen to enjoy meals that are all vegetables or fiber, etc. Having said that I don't sit down and consume 30g of animal protein at every meal. I space it out through 6 smaller meals a day. And I happen to like milk because I like milk.

I doubt most Americans even think about how much protein they eat.
