This race is in the UBC endowment lands (Vancouver, BC) and is pretty mild by my trail standards (mostly gravel and pretty flat actually).

They don't have km markers on the trail so I took intervals every 5 minutes.

So my race pace seems to be around 180 on the HR scale; this is interesting because going in I would have though it was closer to 175; normally I get into "danger mode" when I get over 180. I was so paranoid about going out too fast I might have actually gone out too slow; 170 for the first 5 minutes felt like a slow jog (pre-race addrenaline was also affecting HR). Maybe I should have pushed a bit harder on the first 5 min and that could have brought down my time by 30 seconds probably. My legs didn't have much left at the end so I think I need to work on leg strength plus a bit more endurance.

Overall pretty happy; first time under 50 minutes on a 10K and still room for improvement. Placement was 67th out of 165.
