Dear Chief Fool,
What you are proposing is still socialism. We need a free market decision that does not further move the government into additional power and control of our companies. The collusion and fraud that already exists between government and corporations is the main reason we are in this situation to begin with. No Deal !!

I say also, the Paulson plan is socialism, pure and simple. If I call Congress, I am going to praise and encourage Mr. Boehner and the other Republicans that said 'no deal' yesterday! And thank Mr. McCain for getting off the campaign trail to go back to his Senate job and do his job.

Tom and David should call up Newt Gingerich and ask his advice. Newt has some great ideas for a capitalistic style plan that holds wrongdoers accountable, but helps the average hard-working, bill-paying, saving and investing citizen on Main Street. And whoever said that the average citizen should never be held accountable for his own misdeeds - like trying to buy a house that he can't afford?

Government agencies are 'people,' not 'its!' When government employees become blinded to their own faults, and likewise the employees at big banks and insurance companies, WHY would/should we want those same people in charge of a $700 Billion program? Thanks, but no thanks.

I used to live in northern Virginia and many, even most, of my friends were government employees. Many, many of them are honest, hard-working people. But the ones at the top - especially those in Congress who are entrenched politicians for many years -- have a lot to answer for. Maybe this is their day of reckoning. And of course, we the people feel the consequences for letting our corrupt politicians remain in office.
