Hey fools - I posted about two years ago regarding having some drinks after the day was done, and everyone in bed.

Many of you responded with many years of sobriety - that is great. But how does one get started? I know it would mean going to AA meetings, but if that is not in the cards (I won't go into reasons which I know many of you would say JUST DO IT), any suggestions?

The couple of drinks is many and my memory has been lapsing lately,

Thx

I don't go to meetings. I just don't buy my poison: wine. I don't have a problem with social drinking as I don't really 'go out'. And my family doesn't push if I turn down a drink on the holidays. But if I buy my poison, I consume it. Most of the time I don't, and this works.

There is a person with a plan to get over being a drinker by just deciding not to be a drinker:

Maybe this works for some, if they can keep a promise to themselves.
I have never done the AA thing; community very small and work keeps me busy.

hope you find a solution for yourself.

Karen
