A. I am not a former employee.B. You be the judge if the following seems true to you or not, you will only have my side from which to choose. C. I am a general engineering contractor in Ca., having been in the industry for 13 yrs. as such. Hanson is relatively new to this area, having bought out an existing sand and gravel pit within the last two yrs. Recently I bought 240 tons of class 2 road base to be used as a sub surface for a equestrian arena. After grading this material it was discovered that it contained so much recycled steel ( a result of another lawsuit with another contractor), that it presented real problems for hosrses or cars (as it also used for paving driveways, highways, etc.) When confronted with my concerns, the main salesman from this area stated the material met his standards for construction even though it met no one elses.(state highway dept. included) After many delays and dealings with lawyers were we finally able to get them to admit some sort of liabilty. When they finally decided to respond the result was barely passable and a whole new set of problems presented, property damage to the job site being the latest one. Asking around, I finally realized that I wasn!t alone . As I stated earlier their attitude was that their volumne of business was so great that they could not be troubled with such a small incident. What this episode indicates to me is an overall attitude of their Co. which can only result in eventual failure in this area. Like I stated earlier, I have seen them come and I have seen them go, you decide.
