Re: tax refunds after change in marital status

Thanks for your thoughts, they are definetly appreciated. But I wanted to clarify my position so you wouldn't think I'm acting foolishly (the bad kind of foolish)-

I kept my marital status as single on my paycheck so that my take home pay wouldn't change. I thought that if I kept that constant, and I did get a refund, I could be ahead of the game, in a sense. Of course, we did buy a house this year so now there are more variables at play and this will be different next year, but for the record I agree with those who say that it's better to have just a small refund- you don't owe any money out of pocket and your 'interest free loan to the govt' is kept to a minimum.
