RE: UPGRADESNO, we haven't done the upgrades yet to plumbing and electrical! They are huge and costly. We have leaks all over the place, constantly patching things here and there, water damagine to the drywall that has not been repaired due to leaks. I blow a fuse whenever I use the microwave in the kitchen. Nothing has changed in the plumbing/electrical since 1946. No grounded outlets, all 2 prong. Each room has maybe 2 outlets for 10 appliances. It's a nightmare. I worry about it all the time. Electric quote just to update the outlets to grounded 3 prong was $4000 and that is modest. There are light fixtures that are using cloth-wrapped wires and they need to be rewired, not in that 4K quote. Plumbing? Forget it. I got a $3000 quote just to do the plumbing under the kitchen sink. The plumbing is all under a finished basement ceiling as well, meaning a lot of work to tear it out. SO what I meant was, to stay we have to update or sell the house and let someone else update it. It's really not livable as is (or safe). We did update the kitchen with a new counter, new floors, new paint, new sink, faucet and striped and repainted cabinets.
