Wondering if someone on this board would have a suggestion as to the best 3 in 1 printer to buy for home use?

We bought a Canon 3 in 1 that requires ink cartridges with a purchase price around $70-85.00. Learned later that printing black requires all the associated colors to blend together to make black. This model is a photo printer.

I use the unit for copying and printing letters and statements.

Is there a reliable black and white 3:1 on the market that has a reasonable cartridge price?

Any site that lists the number of pages a cartridge will print?

DH wants to compare printer speeds; where would I find that info?

Readers of this board have been very helpful in answering questions in the past. I hope someone may have a suggestion or two to offer.

Thanks.
