On April 4, there were some glibc related packages updated by Red Hat. As a result of applying this update, my desktop did not work. It turns out the update broke GNOME and ALSA. After some discussion with Red Hat, it turns out the quickest fix is to use yum to downgrade the related files and reboot. If that upgrade shows up on your panel, refuse it for now. They are working on it.
