How are the taxes handled on refunded brokerage fees?
For example, I bought four stocks on the same date in January, and received a credit for the fees on two trades in April.

I sold one position at a loss. Can I use the brokerage fees as part of the basis on the loss, or does one of the credits have to be applied?

If I had a gain would it be treated any differently?

Thanks much,

RDPruitt

p.s. I apologize if this has already been covered.
