Regarding fruit and veggie portions. Well, portions in general. Does serving size refer to the max amount you should eat or is it just a guideline for how many calories, etc is in the food? Also, is it ok to eat 2 or three portions of veggies or fruits, or is this as bad as filling up on extra steak and cupcakes?
In general, it's better to eat more servings of veggies/fruits than steaks (don't I wish it was the other way around!). Veggies & fruits tend to be nutrient dense, with fewer calories per serving, so you get more for your calories so to speak. :) Portion sizes aren't a max amount that you should eat, but rather a standardized measure so that we start on the same footing when talking about meals. However, the food pyramid (controversial as it is, read some older threads!) suggest ranges of the number of servings of any particular food group. Like for example, eat between 6 & 11 servings of grains.

And I know you frequent the LBYM board, veggies in season are kind to the budget!
