For those not inclined to make individual security decisions and who want exposure to reits, with a yield "kicker", look at the new closed end reit income funds (RLF<RQI<JRS).....tend to invest in some of the higher yielding reits, with about 25% of the funds in reit preferreds..cautions:they use leverage (about 30%); and should rates ever rise significantly again, the pfds. will decline in price.....disclosure: don't own these issues.
