Quill,

The underlying doesn’t matter. But take a look at the last panel. That’s useful. http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=CHIE&p=D&yr=1&m... Next, take a look at a weekly version. http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=CHIE&p=W&yr=1&m... TRIX (13,8) nails the move, as does an 8-period MAV on RelStr. But a MAV Xover applied to 'Price' produces garbage no matter what parameters I tried, which is why I junked using MAVs in that manner.

This is the way I think that chart should be set up. http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=CHIE&p=W&yr=1&m...

- CCI (or similar) speaks to 'Price Momentum'.
- FORCE (or similar) speaks to money flows into and out of the security.
- TRIX speaks to 'Trend'. Sometimes the params need to be tweaked. But 8/5 or 13/8 are pretty robust for weekly bars.
- Kelt (with speeded-up params) speaks to 'Price Volatility'.
- Relative Strength Comparative (what Stock Charts calls 'Price Performance') speaks to "strength" in IBD's sense of the term.

In short, that setup covers the four V's: Volume, Velocity, Verticality, and Volatility.
