My wife and I are considering relocating from NJ to NC. Our home is NJ is worth 215K. Homes in NC, the same size with move land run about 150K. Do we need to purchase/look for a home in NC that is closer in price to the home in NJ in order to not get taxed on the gain from for the sale of the NJ home?

Is this the right board for this post?
