Hi.

I rented a place out for several months last year and have heard that this is an expense I can write off. Is this true? If so, what IRS form do I need to fill out?

Thanks in advance,
Hefty

If you rented out some property that you own, you have rental income to report. Any expenses you had for the rental property would be deductible to the extent that they applied to the rental period. Also depreciation should be taken on rental property. If this is residential rental property, see IRS Pub 527. Residential rental income is reported on Schedule E.
