Nordstrom's financial release calendar for the remainder of the first quarter of fiscal 2002 is provided in the table below. Please note that beginning in fiscal 2002 (February), sales will be presented and reported according to the 4-5-4 retail calendar, after the market close, on the Wednesday before Retail Sales Day. Quarterly financial results will continue to be reported on a calendar basis.

This statement appeared in a PRNewsire article today, reporting February sales (up just a hair, but same-day sales from last year were down overall). I don't understand it.....does anybody know what the 4-5-4 retail calendar, or Retail Sales Day, is? Is it weeks, months, some way of standardizing the number of weekends in a reporting period, or what?
