Hi everyone,

I am consider an early retirement overseas. At this point I am leaning towards Southeast Asia. I have noticed that poster such as Galeno is currently retired in Costa Rica. I wonder how many of us are out there, early retirement in a foreign country. Perhaps the expats can share some insights on retirement abroad, advantages, disadvantages. Moving funds and controling of investments from abroad as well as your perspectives and experiences regarding taxes?

If you haven't read it already, you might be interested in Paul Terhorst's book Cashing in on the American Dream: Retire at 35 It's out of print, but you may be able to find it at your local library.

Terhorst is a big advocate of retiring overseas and has lived in Argentina and France since he retired. See his web page at the link below:
