We will be traveling to Laughlin Nev for a reunion next September - does anyone know anything about this area? It is fairly new. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. We plan to go to Las Vegas to see the art Museum in the new casino Belegio sp??

Is it best to fly into Las Vegas and drive down?

Patricia,

Was in Laughlin this spring. Stopped in Sunday evening - told wife it wouldn't be too crowded. Boy was I wrong!! Every snowbird in the states was there. More gray hair in one spot than I've ever seen before.

Weather should be great. The area is new and easy to get around. I would recommend it. You didn't say where you were flying in from, but yes drive down from Vegas.

Yes it is great, much smaller than Vegas and not as glitzy but lots of fun.

You can just about walk to all the casino's (well at least you could 2 years ago.

The one think that I loved about it was the way the people treat you there, you really feel welcome.

Since you are going to Vegas, be sure to at least drive over the dam (Hoover, I think), its worth the minor detour to see that thing.

One other thing is (hmmm not sure about September, but it will probably still be warm enough, heck it is in the middle of a desert) the river is great if you like jet ski's.

thanks to all for the info on Laughlin - will be away this coming week but will check board when I get back.
Thanks again - we can join the group of grey hairs since we are part of that pack. Don't think we'll jet ski but will swim.

Patricia,

Our favorite places to stay in Laughlin are -

The Colorado Belle (right on the water)

and

The Ramada Express (right across the street from CB)

Great place. And I agree, yes, drive - the scenery just into and just out of Laughlin is Fabulous!

Try to go on weekdays. (cheaper/less crowded)

Ann - where is Green Valley - last time I was in the area was in 1956. Long time ago. And what is this THW in Vegas? Have not caught up on the THW board yet. We just might see you - I'm not traveling all that distance for just four days - so you can be sure we are going to do some sightseeing. Would love to see the other side of the Grand Canyon. Is that possible that time of year?

Patricia,
Ha! Love it! Green Valley didn't exist in 1956! It's 25 miles south of Tucson - a retirement village.

And what is this THW in Vegas? Have not caught up on the THW board yet.

When you do, you'll find a discussion about the "band" getting together - Europe was batted around - we thought Vegas more viable. Thought you were part of the dicussion. : )

We'll definitely try to get together! You might run into snow at the GC but it should be possible.

Ann
