I reviewed "The Shareholder Value Myth" by Lynn Stout:

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/01/14/shareholder...

I really disagreed with a lot of what was in the book, particularly the management-centric standpoint and knocking good corporate governance policies as somehow too onerous for public companies. I also felt that a lot of the research was a little dated, that other research is out there that refutes a lot of the conclusions in the book, and even found a few outright errors.

The book did make some good points, but wow. I was a little surprised by the main thrust.

Anyway -- maybe the review will pique some interest. If anyone here has already read it, I'd welcome hearing how you felt about it.
