Rings are definitley expensive! I'm a frugal fool, I'm hoping my significant other will not be foolish enough to want anything too fancy.

I can't offer advice on getting through jewelers and not getting ripped off. Just shop around.

I was reading today, when Bill Gates was going to propose to Melinda...

He went to Omaha to shop at a Berkshire Hathaway owned jewelry store.

Warren Buffett told him "You know Bill, I don't want to give advice but when I was getting married, I spent 6% of my net worth on a ring."

At the time Bill Gates was one of the richest men in the world and 6% of his net worth would have been like $500 million.
