Lafarge just opened two of the fastest producing wallboard lines in the world. This will more than quadrouple their production from a year ago. Also their marketshare should increase. Hence the increase in stock prices.

Lafarge SA (France that owns 52% or Lafarge Corp) just completed the acquisition of Blue Circle. The normal process is for the French company to sell the North American assets or any acquisition (like Blue Circle) to their North American affiliate. However, since there are outside shareholders of the NA company, it will need to be an "arms length" transaction. But there is another possibility and that would be that the French might buy up the shares of the NA company and combine the operations that way. Either would drive the share price up.
