Hi Fools - I've been searching and reading the boards for a while now in preparation for my first investment venture. I'm learning a lot and think I may be ready to take some action. A little background: I'm 28 and just got out of grad school, and I have some student loan debt but none elsewhere. I'm getting ready to roll over a pension plan from Texas' Teacher Retirement System, where I worked for a year, and am wondering about best courses of action. I've opened a brokerage account at Tradeking but have not funded it yet. I know that I've got about $1600 coming from the pension plan - what ideas do you all have about how to invest it? I'm definitely putting it into an IRA, and I'm thinking index fund, but beyond that I need a little guidance. I've heard great things about Vanguard but the minimums are a little steep right now. Ideas or thoughts?
