http://boards.fool.com/why-no-obamacare-penalty-for-the-obes...

A thread worth a million bucks. Seems some are upset that Uncle Sam is targeting smokers to pay MORE for health insurance. As in, a lot more. And

Excuse me, RECF, but I have do something...aaaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!

*Pauses for breath*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!!

There. Got that out of my system.

SOME of us asked those morons to think before they blindly supported this bill. Some of us asked very pertinent questions about the government and its real role in your life. You know: If you had the government regulating insurance, wouldn't that mean that it would start writing rules that affected YOUR personal decisions and YOUR lifestyles?

Some people also warned that if the taxpayers were going to pick up the bill for your healthcare, then that meant that the government has every right to influence how you live your life.

It's a bitter pill to be able to look so many people in the eye and tell them I Told You So. The political left has cashiered the concept of principles or thinking, all the while accusing anyone of opposing their destructive agenda of heresy. Not unlike the Salem Witch trials.

Expect more of this in the future when the IPAB gets fully rolling. But that's not even the best part. Here's that:

What distinguishes the IPAB from the Environmental Protection Agency or the Federal Drug Administration is that those agencies give affected parties opportunities to weigh in before issuing their rules. This board would not be required to offer any avenue for patients and providers to air their concerns, nor could its decisions be challenged in court. Coaxing coverage out of heartless private insurers will seem like a piece of cake compared to confronting this all-powerful bureaucracy, which allows neither access nor appeal.

The IPAB’s proposals would automatically become law unless Congress came up with its own equivalent spending cuts—or both houses, including a three-fifths majority in the Senate, waived it and the president signed the waiver. This is an exceedingly high hurdle that would effectively turn the IPAB into a super legislature.

Gotta love liberal legislation signed in the dead of night when you have to pass it to find out what's in it. This particular gem sets up a board with NO appeals process, NO public access and has an exceedingly high bar to overturn its decisions AFTER the fact.

The next lib that shows up and proclaims his or her love for open government? Laugh in their face.

Here's my advice. Start eating better, get regular exercise, and pay special attention to your joint mobility and overall flexibility levels. (Those last two items will help you not only feel great but *avoid* injuries. I myself have a New Year's resolution to get my full martial arts flexibility back).

Then work on making sure you have NO dependence on government programs for your health care. Because if they're not subsidizing it, they have zero control over you or your body.

Laughing helps. You'll be able to do a lot of it at left wingers in the coming years.

Just wait until the IPAB decides

1) that gun owners will need to pay more because of the 'risk' of accidents......back door gun regulations

2) doctors will have to ask about gun ownership and squeal to the government and family members will be asked the same questions. Likely school children will be forced to fill out 'questionnaires' in school about whether their parents own guns and report that to the authorities. That 'causes' health care costs to rise, heh heh.....

3) that all of a sudden, certain 'hobbies' are viewed as 'higher risk', from rock climbing and wall climbing (even at the gym), water skiing, snow skiing, jet ski use, para gliding, flying a private airplane...and your health care premium is 'adjusted' to make up for the risk.

Soon, you'll be relegated to sitting at home watching MS-LSD TV 24/7 to get the latest propaganda from the administration via 'info tainment'...and the promotion of the 'ideal society' of 'equal sharing'.

Of course, you'll likely be charged more for obesity in the future. They'll just ratchet that in slowly once they start.

You'll have 'voluntary' targets once it gets going. Then, if you don't meet your voluntary targets....you get classified as 'higher risk' and the next year your premium 'skyrockets'.

---------------

That's really hard to do when you hit Medicare age. Sigh.
