Hello,
Recently I opened an IRA with a discount brokerage. I began with a $500 deposit then I invested it in the Foolish Four. I read through the investment strategies at the Motley Fool website and they discuss holding the Four for a year then rebalancing, but I don't see any discussion about regularly contributing to the funds through the year. I still have $1,500 I can contribute this year.
Does anyone else have an IRA/Foolish Four that you are regularly contributing to throughout the year? If so, how do you keep the account balanced? Do you buy equal shares in the Four or do you let the money sit outside the funds until rebalancing a year later?
Or, should I just stay with my initial $500 investment and wait until the year's over?
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks, Jeannie

You can do it either way. The cost of transactions is usually the determining factor. Make sure you make that extra $1500 contribution to the account before next years Apr 15 deadline, but if costs are high, hold it in something like a money market account until you are ready to invest it. If costs are low, go ahead and invest it according to the same ratio you have as soon as you have it.
