HELP!!
I'm trying to explain to my wife why you can't have joint ownership of a ROTH IRA. Apparently I'm not getting the message across. Can you help?

ROTH is simply one of a dozen different kinds of IRA. The real issue is that the "I" in IRA stands for "individual". No such thing as a JRA.

Does this help?

The Law that set up the IRS's will not allow a joint IRA.

Good question to ask your federal congressman or senator.

Badger,
I know that part. I'm trying to explain to her why it has to be an I and not a J.

Maybe it would help to show her – if you can – that she is the beneficiary of it.
