Hello fools,
Does anyone know if the states can get their greedy little hands on our roth fed tax free withdrawals? I am fortunate to live in a state with no income tax (therefore my state income tax obligation is being filled-ha ha)But what if I were to retire in a state that did have income tax? Could they claim a piece of my pie?

TIA
Tony Bologna

Yes. They can tax pretty much what they want, except for interest on Federal obligations and nonresidents' retirement payments. (Those are the two I can think of with only one cup of coffee. There may be other prohibitions in Federal law, but taxing Roth distributions isn't one of them.)
