I live only an hour away, but this was my first trip to the Marin Headlands. Supposedly I was to see sweeping SF Bay views and the Golden Gate Bridge. Instead, I got a lot of fog.

My wife and I finished the half marathon distance in 3 hours. Not bad for her near-complete lack of training. And I managed to get another keeper photo, this one of her entering a foggy grove of trees.

Running on a ridge trail with fog on both sides was pretty surreal, as were the few lush, damp canyons among otherwise dry terrain. Amazing wildflowers. Neat WW2 lookout bunkers built into the hills. Cool hanging out by the freaking beach waiting for the race to start. AND, we ran into a highschool friend who proceeded to WIN the 50k distance... her first ultra. Oh my.

Overall, a pretty fun Sunday.
