Ryder has lost a small contract hauling newspapers in Memphis, Tn as of Aug 1. There are less than 20 employees involved with this account, mostly straight truck drivers. To date, one that I am aware of has been offered another job with the company. Amazing to me that a company as large as Ryder has no place in its system for people who have worked 6-7 nights a week, 365 days a year (no holidays on this acct) for 20 odd cents a mile, a joke by todays standards. I wonder if Miami even knows or cares that these people exist and have families to support. I wish I had never even seen the newspaper ad 3 years ago. What a waste of time this has been working for these people.
