As a newly retired (57 year-old) Fool, I need to park some of my retirement IRA/403b funds into a 3-5yr account which provides safety of principal with as high an interest rate as possible, and the flexibility of partial withdrawals.

CD's are limited to an insured cap which I would exceed.

Currently, some of these funds are in Govt bond mutual funds... which are not paying as high a total yield as some CD's and the principal amount varies more than I would like.

These are not really investment funds... they are to be used for a base income while other funds are devoted to investing in securities for growth.

All suggestion are appreciated.
