This may be a silly question...

I have a bunch of series E savings bonds that will pay interest twice more, in October and in April, 2004. They are currently earning 4%. How can I tell how much each payment will be? Do they pay 2% each time, or what?

I'm in the process of looking at investments to shift this money into, and would like to know what kind of incentive I have for waiting until April vs. making moves after October 1.
