I prefer posts. So I wouldn't get that one. (Yeah, I'm spoiled...now that I have posts I won't go back.)

Wish I could help with "discrete amp configuration", but I don't recall hearing that term before. Perhaps I know it by some other term, but Yamaha doesn't seem to want to tell us what it really is. Maybe Michael knows.
