Dear Motley Fool Community or Gurus...

I'd like to ask how or what is the best method to calculate value on a stock split.

For example, If one purchased 500 shares of Select Comfort at $37.71 then the company gave a stock split of 250 shares, how would you value the stock?

Would one average the prices from the original purchase and the date of the stock split?
