...Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Senate Republican Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) will attempt to win Senate approval of legislation to prevent the cloning of human embryos on Monday, Dec. 3.This is obviously (well, it should be!) an area where the hand of government should not set foot. If they don't want to fund it, fine, don't fund it. But they shouldn't put a lid on science just because they think they know what they're doing....have offered an amendment banning all human cloning for six months, to a popular bill railroad pensions bill that is moving through the Senate.Makes me madder'n hell. Bill riders should be outlawed (but I'm not going to hold my breath). A bill should be about one subject, and that's all. What cloning research has to do with cloning is obviously nothing, except that the good Senators know that their colleagues are not going to vote against railroad pensions. Like Mark Twain said, "Nobody's safe when congress is in session", and "Anybody who like hot dogs or laws shouldn't watch either one being made." (One of those may be Will Rogers.)
