Deadbeat ex-tenant (who was fine for two years, and then suddenly stopped taking her meds or something) owed us over three months rent when we finally got her to leave. She sent us a letter promising to repay the money owed, $300/month until it was paid off. That was the last we heard of her, 5 months ago. At the beginning of November I wrote her at her last known address, saying we required her to pay the money back or we would take legal action. *cricket, cricket*

Frankly, I have very little expectation of getting the money back. What I *want* is to screw her credit score up. (I am not usually a vindictive bitch, but we were trying to sell the apartment and after the buyers made an offer she followed them from room to room, bad mouthing the place so much that the buyers decided to pull out of the deal. Finally we re-negotiated terms, but we took a large hit (5 figures). I would have let the rent money go, but she was mean. Just because she could be. I don't understand that kind of behavior, and my inner Mother of Toddler does not want to encourage that kind of behavior.)

Anyway, I do really need some answers. Adding awkwardness to this is the apartment, and she, are in Seattle and we are in New York City.

Ideas? Contacts? Voodoo dolls?

a little bitter, why yes...
