Has anyone ever heard of, or have experience with setting up a trust for the benefit of one's parents?

My 4 brothers and I are trying to think of the best way to assist our financially irresponsible parents as they age with no assets, and we have arrived at the idea of setting up a trust so that none of us has to deal with the tax issues of holding the pooled assets and that we can all continue to have control over how they are used.

For the whole story you can read here:

Does this sound like a good idea to anyone, or do you have any other suggestions?
