Several years ago a poster here on the Fool said that he could always get a job working tables, at a restaurant (with all-day service) of his choice, in one week. He'd go in in the morning and ask to speak to the manager on duty. He'd hand that manager his resume and references and say "I'm going to be here and buy coffee every morning for a week, I'll arrive at <right after the breakfast rush ends> and leave <right before the lunch rush starts>. If you're short-staffed and need a waiter for the lunch rush, come talk to me, the first shift is free."And then he'd actually show up as specified, PROMPTLY.And by the end of the week he was hired.Funny how being seen as willing and able to show up on time ready to work, and actually do the job, helps...
