BURBANK, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--June 4, 1997--Warner Bros.
Sports Licensing and Reebok are proud to announce a landmark
licensing agreement with Reebok in which Los Angeles Lakers center
Shaquille O'Neal will endorse its "WB Sport" sports/lifestyle brand.
The agreement was announced Wednesday by Dan Romanelli,
president, Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products; Bob Meers,
president, Reebok; and Leonard Armato, chairman and CEO, Management
Plus and O'Neal's agent.
Under the terms of the agreement, WB Sport will develop a line
of WB Sport/Shaq branded footwear and apparel bearing the "Shaq
Dunkman" logo for distribution in the mid-tier and mass markets, as
well as Warner Bros. Studio Stores.
Reebok branded Shaquille O'Neal performance footwear (the products
he will practice and compete in) and apparel will remain separate and
continue to be marketed with impactful advertising through athletic
specialty and sporting goods retailers.
"Shaquille O'Neal is a tremendous, internationally recognized
athlete, a growing force in the NBA, and an emerging star in the
world of music and movies," said Romanelli. "We are thrilled to
have him endorsing and promoting our sports lifestyle brand because
he is an exemplary individual on the basketball court as well as
within the community.
"We feel that if there is an athlete that embodies the `sports is
entertainment' theme of our brand, it is Shaquille O'Neal," said
Romanelli.
"Shaquille O'Neal is a unique individual whose credentials
extend from performance sports to music and motion pictures," said
Meers. "Given Shaq's existing association with Warner Bros.,
through his movie `Steel,' the timing was ideal to broaden the
merchandising opportunities with Shaq through the WB Sport brand in
order to reach consumers not accessing Reebok branded Shaquille
O'Neal products," Meers said.
"The combined power of Shaq's sports authenticity coupled with
the unparalleled entertainment expertise of Warner Bros. will
create exciting new retail opportunities."

both Reebok and WB Sport will maintain that image through Shaq's
basketball footwear and apparel in their respective channels of
distribution," said Armato. "WB Sport gives us the opportunity to
make Shaq branded merchandise more accessible to a wider variety of

The WB Sport/Shaq apparel line will consist of youth and adult
apparel that will include T-shirts, fleece sweatshirts, jogging
suits, outerwear and polo shirts. The WB Sport/Shaq footwear
assortment will also consist of a variety of styles for youth and
adults and will carry suggested retail prices at the higher end of
the mid-tier and mass market retail distribution channels.
