FINALLY tried a version of low-carb eating -- basically cutting out white carbs, and bread in general initially Hmmmm....substituting white rice for brown or a varietal and substituting white bread, as in Wonder, for a wholegrain bread isn't cutting out carbs--it's eating a better quality of carbs. If you changed your eating habits to dump "white", overly-processed, cheap ingredients foods and started to eat wholegrain foods with much more food value and a smaller portion size, I suspect you would've lost the weight without proclaiming that you were on the Atkins Diet."LOL"???? Such a put down. And perhaps you should read my post again.I never quoted you as saying you have all the answers. You speak as if you feel you do. Anyone who can make such a ludicrous statement that "losing weight isn't hard," and go on to describe the populace of overweight people basically as gluttons who shovel an endless amount of crap into themselves......plus the sermonizing you so often do....you certainly create the impression that you are convinced that if only the rest of the world followed your sterling and sensible example, we'd all find that our complaints would disappear.How can you possibly admonish me that eating brown rice instead of white, wholegrain bread instead of Wonder, eating smaller portions, etc....would have gotten my several pounds off without "proclaiming"--no less--that I went on the Atkins diet. Put your reading glasses on, Nancy. Of course, you'd have no way of knowing that I haven't eaten Wonder bread since I was a kid. But I said with evident clarity that "my portions were already small, my breads whole grain, my fats healthy ones, I've never been a dessert eater, ate lots of fruits and vegetables....etc etc." I have preferred brown rice for years. And when I say small portions--I MEAN small. And I very clearly stated that I did NOT go on the Atkins diet; I changed my carb balance (and became more aware of certain hidden carbs--which I hadn't mentioned). I did not cut out all of the various fruits and vegetables Atkins nixes, I didn't measure my carb intake, and when I discovered how yucky Splenda tastes in my coffee and tea, I said the hell with that. .... For me personally, I don't like the degree of regimentation that Atkins asks for, and some of the no-no fruits and veggies have too many healthful compounds in them to cross off my list." I don't want or need your patronizing approval or encouragement, that I should be pround that I found what works for me. I know damn well what I've done, and how I feel about it. I also know how I feel about lifestyle snobs such as I feel you are.sheila
