I have a short position that I opened in Oct and plan to close in Feb. My broker sent me a 1099-B with proceeds from the short listed in box 2. I am using Turbo Tax and could not find any place to put in a short sell. Only a stock sell, and I did not know what to put in for my basis, since I have not purchased the stock yet. Do I need to report this for tax year 03? Is there a section in the Turbo Tax interviewer for Shorts that I have missed?
