I have a fair bit of short term capital gains on stock transactions this year. One of my holdings is currently down from where I bought it, but I expect it to go up significantly over the long-haul.

Should I sell the holding and then immediately repurchase it so as to lock in a short term capital loss to offset my short term gains?
