Or Both??

Hey all,

I have a question. I am eligible for the 401k at my job (Wal-Mart). It does have an S&P 500 index fund, which is the only thing I would consider using. They only match up to 2% of my income.

On the other hand..

I was thinking about opening up a Roth IRA at Scottrade and buying the S&P 500 index fund. I know I would need $1000 to start VFINX so that is one "drawback."

Which ever one I decide to go with will be the only account I contribute to for right now. I am still in college and have student loan debt. I am paying that off as we speak. I am also saving for an engagement ring. I am going to have about $100 to contribute every month. What do you think I should do? I'm 22 but I'm planning now for retirement. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Have a good day,
Brett
