In several states, Texas in particular, tea partiers are trying to get their state colleges and universities to focus more on vocational training--especially in STEM (science, math, engineering, technology), and less on humanities, social sciences, and general education.

Do they think the scientifically trained will remain or become religious and conservative? The great majority of scientists and mathematicians are liberal and secular. A majority of engineers and technologists are, too, especially socially liberal.

Perhaps they sow the seeds of their own destruction.

Gee, maybe they are trying to prepare people to earn a living in the world in which we live.

I've never found engineers to be any more liberal, or progressive than anyone else.

_______________

Not sure there's a study to your point, sounds more like an opinion.

They think people with jobs will be. When you create a tax payer you are more likely to create a Republican.

Just look at how Obama did vs Romney when it came to educated voters

Obama won voters without a High School Degree 64% to 35%
Romney won voters with only a High School Degree 51-48
Romney won voters with a college degree 51-47

Educated voters lean GOP, but not by much. However, non-educated voters go heavily Democrat.

*gasp!*

Pointing out how people might be punishing themselves via policies they support.

PS: Alstro... out of all the Extreme Leftists here, I think you are more capable than most of them at thinking for yourself. So I offer you this opinion: You are right. There are elements on the Social Right who NEED to have chunks of people be oblivious to science/math/etc and instead be totally "religious and conservative"...for that's an easy voter base. JUST LIKE, be it communists in the Soviet, or Liberals here....they need some equally aggressive secularists...otherwise, too many people would subscribe to a power higher than government and Libs can't have that. Furthermore, the perpetual poverty that is purposefully caused by Liberalism is also on purpose: Again, easy votes. The funny part: White Christian slaves to Republicans in the South, have something in common with black slaves on the Democratic plantation: BOTH groups are taken for granted by their party of choice, and BOTH groups have seen the world pass them by, big time. Ok, now I return you back to FOX and MSNBC and Twitter. highbrow debates on PA lol

She might have gotten it from life experience, observation, qualitative evidence, etc. You know, stuff that TMF Lib-slaves aren't capable of...they can only "post a link" from Wiki or something.
