Since we're on the subject...

I found a 6/27/97 article in EE Times (here at the Fool, natch) about a Mobile Network Computer Reference Specification that has been proposed by 11 companies (Microsoft not among them.) The wireless NC specification is an extension of the year old NC reference platform for a low cost desktop computer that relies on a centralized server for processing, storage and most applications.

<< Gene Banman, a Sun Microsystems vice president, said while "a mobile NC may seem to be an oxymoron" the systems are needed to "pull up the office environment" anywhere in the world. >>

In other words... nice guise, but you'll never finish.

But let's look on the Sunny side of this Oracular vision: at least it won't be Bill.
