So for example, that $160K lifestyle requires a minimum of $4MM in investable assets at retirement (using the 4% rule and not considering inflation). I know it's just an example but once you take out the savings/investing and look at the taxes on what's left, it can be amazing how much less is needed for the same lifestyle. This is speaking from my own experience with a huge drop in income.
