How do I decide whether we should file separately or jointly?

Actually, I've got a lot of questions. This one just seemed to be right for this board. Like, I know we should be able to save money by combining our car insurance. Also, there may be spousal benefits from one or both of our employers. But what other potential benefits or considerations should a newly married couple look at?

Sorry, if this is the wrong board, but I have at least one question which is appropriate for this board. Please feel free to point me to other boards for certain topics or to informative articles (at the Fool or elsewhere).

Thanks so much!
