So, if you have kids going to public school, then your kids will attend from age 5 to 18, that's 13 years, but you'll have to pay your entire life. If you don't have kids or if they are home schooled or going to private school, then that 33% portion is going out the drain. We don't have a state income tax but I'm sure the other states where the real estate tax is low, the higher state income tax more than makes up for.

I never had any kids, but I have always paid school tax. Here in NJ, there is an income tax, a property tax, and a sales tax. The sales tax is the cheapest: 7%.

I would rather pay school tax than the so-called defense budget that goes for providing a private army for supra-national corporations, many of which pay no income tax at all. All that does is create terrorists world-wide and increases the risk of living here.

A sign I saw at a private enterprise, was as follows:

"If you think education is expensive, try stupidity." If you want to see the power of stupidity, look at the US government. To let those morons have trillions of dollars and play with weapons of mass destruction boggles the mind. And look at the voters who elected them. A serious education shortage.

I would rather pay school tax than many other taxes because I would prefer the kids to be in school instead of running around committing vandalism, and I want them educated enough so they can support themselves so I will not have to pay about $40,000/year to keep each one in prison.
