So it's both moisture AND termites (one leads to the other actually) that are problems with synthetic stucco.


One of the biggest problems I've heard of with the older synthetic stucco was in the mandatory termite inspection upon sale. Several people I know had to pay mega-bucks to have their stucco stripped away so an inspector could check for termites, then have it reapplied to return the house to sale condition. I think the newer homes have a certain sized reveal of wood or cement before the stucco starts, to avoid this issue.
